Please stop sending puns on dating apps

Please. Maybe I’m not the target audience for puns. Maybe I have a terrible sense of humor. I hate receiving puns as opening lines on dating apps. What am I supposed to do with that? I really haven’t learned anything about you and now I’m left with no option other than to acknowledge your wit. But here’s the thing: I really like puns in real life (more on irl dating). I think the reason they land so much better for me in person is because the whole interaction doesn’t depend on me thinking they’re funny - if I don’t laugh, it’s no big deal, I can just roll my eyes and move on, but on a dating app, everything hinges upon that pun being funny. And we both know it isn’t.

Bottom line: don’t do it

If you are looking for humor in the dating world, look no further than Craigslist.
